That is the debate today. Should I go back? or should I keep my focus at home?
Going back to school for a Master Degree in Business will hopefully help my bottom line, accelerate me in my career and give me some stability in this horrible market. But going back means giving up time with my family and friends. Cutting back is easier when you stay focused on cutting coupons, grocery shopping weekly and doing your bills on time. That is my fear, that by going back to school I will loose focus on the financial decisions I need to be on top of here at home.
The other pressing question with so many people loosing their top level jobs, great incomes and fancy offices is pursuing a MBA a good thing right now or will I be competing against a slew of other people in the job market all looking for the same thing? Decisions, Decisions? With many it is the fear of can they handle the workload but my fear is bigger than the coursework. I know from going to school for my Bachelor degree while raising a family that I can handle the workload put forth as long as I put my mind to it. My fear is the economy, available jobs and whether the degree makes a difference in my future.
If you listen to the news online you will see a world falling apart, and if you ask a college recruiter the world is your oyster so which is true? Is the sky falling or just opening up to the right people, companies and decisions?

It is a big decision ... but it seems as though if you can afford it, now may well be the time to do it ... at least by the time the economy improves you will have an advantage over others that did not advance their education during the downtime.
Of course, I always support people going back to school though :)
