President Barack Obama's view on abortion

President Barack Obama's view on abortion

According to CNN.com and Whitehouse.gov, President Barack Obama reversed the decision not to support funding for abortions here and abroad. This decision gives our tax money back to the clinics and doctors' that perform these abortion functions and promotions of abortions as an option. Abortion is legal in the United States but tax payers should not have to fund these options.

For the last eight years former President George W. Bush withheld funds from UNFPA, The UN Fund Population Fund but Obama has restored it with a signature. This decision is given as a way of preventing unwanted pregnancies and to reduce abortions globally. How can you reduce abortions if you are financing the promotion of them? How can you reduce abortion if you are financially funding the clinics that perform them here and abroad? Marketing and financial support will not reduce the use of abortions and it will not promote better sex practices. It will only give women a way out if they find themselves pregnant. We wouldn't support pregnant women killing their children once they are born, we shouldn't finance a way for them to do it while in the womb.

Globally this sends a message of support for the promotion and financing of abortions. Promoting abortions and having the US tax payer pay the tab is wrong on many different levels. To increase the way of life, sexual decisions and habits wouldn't it be better to get to the root of the problem than give women a temporary solution? Providing education about sex before marriage, prevention techniques and financial support for family units is a much better place to spend our tax dollars than abortion clinics worldwide.

The topic of abortion is a controversial one that Roe vs. Wade has not calmed in over three decades. It is played out in churches, politics and within families every day in every state, country or republic. What you choose to believe right or wrong is a personal choice but President Obama choosing to fund such activities is appalling. President Obama ran as a Christian in his campaign but it is very hard to see those traits when he chooses to support murder in the womb.
Everyone has choices to make during their lifetime. It is not our place to judge others for their decisions but it is wrong to use our tax money to pay for someone else's choices. Politicians need to take a stance against this reversal of funding. If they do not take a stance on the funding of abortion what will our hard earned money be spent next?

Struggling with the economy, layoffs and other worries hitting families today

Yesterday was a day filled with excitement, joy and history in the making. But today many people have awoken to the same fears, doubts and stress that they had before where their bank account is concerned. No matter if you are a Democrat or a Republican the bills still have to be paid, the kids still need to be fed and hard decisions are starting to hit American families at home. The news isn’t about some place far away anymore; it is about us, our friends and our family members.
Layoffs are happening at an excessive rate raising the stress level for employees all across the globe. Rumor mills at work make it difficult to concentrate as the rumors become reality. In this current economic climate it doesn’t matter whether you are a hard worker or the length of time you’ve spent in your current position. It comes down to dollars and cents. Taking the layoffs personally would be wrong unless you are a poor employee, especially since it is hitting across the board. Warehouse employees, auto part plants, high level executives and middle management are all feeling the pinch within this economy.
Reducing stress in times like this is very hard. We struggle with guilt, depression and loss of material items that took so long to accumulate. All of these emotions snow balling into a bigger problem that loosing ones job. We need to do our best as families to support one another, help each other out and get through these tough times. To achieve this it will take stepping back and realizing that the accumulation of personal items is what has gotten us into this mess. Prioritizing our lives to put the most important things at the top will help each of us keep our judgments clear. Family, friends and time spent should be foundation of every ones lives. Luckily for all of us these items don’t cost a thing or if they do a very small portion of our budget. Send a letter, call a friend or spending time with your children are all activities to reduce stress and lift your spirits.
Times like these are also wonderful for getting back to your spiritual center. God is there even though many of us haven’t had time for him during the good times. He will take all of us back if we just go and ask. He loves us and our relationship with him will be there whether there is money in the bank or not. He doesn’t care what car we drive, what neighborhood we live in or how many pairs of shoes we own. He only cares for our heart and whether we allow him inside.
Stressing over the little things will not get any of us anywhere. We need to create a plan, put our prioritizing our lives and live for a bigger purpose than our own.

Going back to school in this economy?

That is the debate today. Should I go back? or should I keep my focus at home?

Going back to school for a Master Degree in Business will hopefully help my bottom line, accelerate me in my career and give me some stability in this horrible market. But going back means giving up time with my family and friends. Cutting back is easier when you stay focused on cutting coupons, grocery shopping weekly and doing your bills on time. That is my fear, that by going back to school I will loose focus on the financial decisions I need to be on top of here at home.

The other pressing question with so many people loosing their top level jobs, great incomes and fancy offices is pursuing a MBA a good thing right now or will I be competing against a slew of other people in the job market all looking for the same thing? Decisions, Decisions? With many it is the fear of can they handle the workload but my fear is bigger than the coursework. I know from going to school for my Bachelor degree while raising a family that I can handle the workload put forth as long as I put my mind to it. My fear is the economy, available jobs and whether the degree makes a difference in my future.

If you listen to the news online you will see a world falling apart, and if you ask a college recruiter the world is your oyster so which is true? Is the sky falling or just opening up to the right people, companies and decisions?
